Maisie Williams may star in The Forest of Hands and Teeth adaptation

Yesterday we learned that Game of Thrones' Maisie Williams will star alongside Asa Butterfield in the indie drama ARRIVALS, and Variety is reporting that the actress is also in talks to star in THE FOREST OF HANDS AND TEETH, a film version of the Carrie Ryan YA post-apocalyptic zombie novel of the same name. Williams is in negotiations for the lead role of Mary, a woman who "seeks a world beyond the fenced-off village of survivors," after much of the human race has become vicious cannibals, thanks to a mysterious virus.

Book synopsis from Amazon:

In Mary's world there are simple truths. The Sisterhood always knows best. The Guardians will protect and serve. The Unconsecrated will never relent. And you must always mind the fence that surrounds the village; the fence that protects the village from the Forest of Hands and Teeth. .

But, slowly, Mary’s truths are failing her. She’s learning things she never wanted to know about the Sisterhood and its secrets, and the Guardians and their power. And, when the fence is breached and her world is thrown into chaos, about the Unconsecrated and their relentlessness. Now, she must choose between her village and her future, between the one she loves and the one who loves her. And she must face the truth about the Forest of Hands and Teeth. Could there be life outside a world surrounded in so much death?

THE SECRET GARDEN and FINDING NEVERLAND actress Kate Maberly will make her feature film directorial debut with the movie adaptation, and is also producing with Doug Liman through her through her Hetherwood Productions. Are you interested in checking out THE FOREST OF HANDS AND TEETH?

Maisie Williams can be seen next on the big screen in Bill Purple's THE DEVIL AND THE DEEP BLUE SEA, which doesn't have an official release date yet, but will likely open sometime next year.
