In speaking with the LA Times, Harrison’s widow Olivia revealed the news that the documentary first announced back in 2007 would finally be seeing the light of a cinema sometime this year. “I assume we’re going to announce it sometime soon, the actual [premiere] date, but it will be this year,” she said while in Las Vegas recently for the fifth-anniversary performance of The Beatles’ Cirque du Soleil show ‘Love’. “I just came from New York and Monday I’m going to see it again. We’re real excited about it. Marty is such a great storyteller, and of course he always finds the story that you don’t expect.”
LIVING IN THE MATERIAL WORLD’s title comes from the former Beatle’s 1973 album and song of the same name. This, of course, stands as Scorsese’s fourth music documentary (THE LAST WALTZ, NO DIRECTION HOME: BOB DYLAN, and SHINE A LIGHT being his others), something the filmmaker has shown to be exceedingly good at crafting.
