Mike Dougherty not sure Trick ‘r Treat 2 should happen

One of the best Halloween flicks out there is GODZILLA: KING OF THE MONSTERS writer-director Michael Dougherty's killer horror anthology flick TRICK 'R TREAT starring Anna Paquin, Brian Cox, and Dylan Baker. But where's TRICK 'R TREAT 2? Come on, Hollywood, bring it on!

Well, it seems that maybe Dougherty thinks he should leave well enough alone at this point. Dougherty shared with ComicBookMovie.com:

I think there's something to be said about not sequelizing it. In a business that is obsessed with franchising and spinoffs and prequels and sequels, maybe there's something to be said about just leaving it alone.

He continues:

Listen, I'm intrigued by the idea and it's completely up to Legendary. It's been a few years since we initially talked about it and there's been a regime change since then. They still have the property and they love it and there's still a long line of merchandise and a continuing line of comic books based on the film but the ball is in their court. The moment they say they're interested and ready to go, we'll see if the stars align.

While I do agree with the man that sometimes it's better to let sleeping corpses lie, I think TRICK 'R TREAT 2 is an exception. After all, the original movie only seems to be getting better with age – and it (officially) came out ten years ago now. God, I feel old…

For those of you that might not know, the original film is made up of:

Interwoven stories that demonstrate some traditions are best not forgotten as the residents (Anna Paquin, Brian Cox, Dylan Baker) of a small town face real ghosts and goblins on Halloween. Tales of terror reveal the consequences of extinguishing a Jack-o-Lantern before midnight and a grumpy hermit's encounter with a sinister trick-or-treater.

TRICK R TREAT is written and directed by Michael Dougherty and produced by Bryan Singer. It stars Dylan Baker, Rochelle Aytes, Anna Paquin, Lauren Lee Smith, Leslie Bibb, Britt McKillip, Tahmoh Penikett, Brian Cox, and Quinn Lord as Sam. Snag a copy on Blu-ray RIGHT HERE.
