Fresh off of working on the upcoming Netflix series The Haunting of Bly Manor, which will mix the story of author Henry James' 1898 horror novella The Turn of the Screw with elements from other James stories, genre filmmaker Mike Flanagan is now set to co-write and executive produce a Netflix series inspired by author Christopher Pike's 1994 novel The Midnight Club – and this series is expected to work in elements from other Pike stories as well.
The Midnight Club novel (which you can buy a copy of HERE) was set at
Rotterdam Home, a hospice for terminally ill teenagers. A group of patients begin to gather together at midnight to share scary stories. They eventually make a pact that whichever of them dies first will contact the others from beyond the grave.
Flanagan and Leah Fong, who also worked on The Haunting of Bly Manor, are creating and writing the Midnight Club series together. Other writers on the series will include Elan Gale, James Flanagan, and Chinaka Hodge.
Flanagan is executive producing through Intrepid Pictures, along with Fong, Julia Bicknell, and Intrepid's Trevor Macy. Adam Fasullo, Intrepid's vice president of television, is overseeing the project.
I haven't read The Midnight Club, but I'm interested in seeing anything Flanagan is involved with.
