Old Star Wars DVDs!!

I guess praying does work, eh? After years of tossing his own CGI-infested versions of the original STAR WARS flicks down our collective throats, George Lucas has finally given in (i.e. realized that he could make even more money this way), and decided to release the original 3 STAR WARS movies (A NEW HOPE, THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK and RETURN OF THE JEDI) on DVD in their original forms -- sans the digital effect wizardry that they added later on. Actually, the 2-Disc Special Editions of each film will include both versions on it -- with and without the extra CGI stuff.

The DVDs are obviously being released at the same time as some other big LucasFilm project (something called the LEGO STAR WARS II videogame) because as per any good Lucas production, it's all about milking the maximum amount of money from the fans. The DVDs will be released in September of 2006 and according to the StarWars.com website, be "attractively priced" -- whatever the F that means -- and only be available during the highest selling point of the year, from September 12th to December 31st, after which they will be pulled from shelves. Bugh.

If you want to know why I'm so bitter, CLICK HERE to read my negative experience at a STAR WARS panel at the San Diego Comic Con a few years ago. Bitterness aside though, rejoice kids, it's a good day for the f*ckin' force in fanville! If you want to read more about this news, CLICK HERE and tell George I say "Hi!". Thanks to 'Mike' for the head's up.
