The Latest Announcements

The Benchwarmers - July 25

So when the trailer was first released for Benchwarmers, I automatically thought of that Mitch Hedberg (RIP) joke: "I wish I could play little league now; I'd kick some f*cking ass. I'd be way better than before." It was a funny a one liner in a comedy routine, not as a full on movie...with three very annoying dudes. But, I digress. I'll get off my soapbox now.

My Name is Earl - September

While it hasn't been officially announced by Fox, TVonDVD has reported that the 4 disc set will include the 24 episodes that ran during the season with a good amount of extras. I've only seen the show twice since it conflicts with my stripping routine and I don't have TIVO, but the episodes I saw made me an instant fan. That and a skinny Ethan Suplee (congrats dude) and of course, Jason Lee's moustache.

  • "Bad Karma" a newly made, exclusive to DVD Family Guy crossover episode in which Earl's life is influenced by Stewie instead of Carson Daly after the accident
  • Commentary on least 8 episodes (including Bad Karma) with Cast, Producers and guest stars Jon "Favs" Favreau and Juliette "Juliette" Lewis
  • Blooper Reel: "Karma is a funny thing"
  • Featurette: Making Things Right: Behind the Scenes of My Name is Earl
Stay tuned for artwork and an official release date.

"If you know anything about me, you'll know where this finger's been."

Chucky: The Killer DVD Collection - September 19

Well, if you're a big Chucky fan and looking forward to this collector's set, hold still young lad, because what's missing is the one that started it all, Child's Play. But you do get Child’s Play 2, Child’s Play 3, Bride of Chucky and Seed of Chucky in one "Killer Collection". The exclusion could be that MGM owns Child's Play and Universal is releasing the rest. I guess someone forgot the "sharing is caring" memo. The films are presented in anamorphic widescreen and each film will occupy a single side on two double-sided (called a DVD10) discs. Have fun, go nuts.

"Kid, you're about to get fileted by a possessed doll with a switch blade!"

Ace Ventura Double Feature - September 5

Well, I certainly miss the old Jim Carrey, but I guess you could talk with your ass cheeks for only so long before it gets old. Not for me though, not for me. There's a bonus disc in this "Deluxe Double Feature" of specially selected cartoons from the animated series.

If you were going to go on to demand mulit-millions a picture, would you dress as a ballerina?

Chappelle Show: The Lost Episodes - July 25

Well, I guess this is the best Comedy Central can do since Dave went ape shit and bailed, but I did read an interesting article a couple of months ago in BLENDER that offered a sympathetic view on the man himself. Then he was on Oprah and looked high as shit. Draw your own conclusion. This single disc release has over an hour's worth of goodness. But how will it hold up to the prior two seasons? Stay tuned.

  • Extra unaired sketches
  • Never-before-seen performances by John Legend and Dead Prez
  • "The Fabulous Making of Chappelle's Show" documentary

Dazed & Confused (SE): Looking forward to Richard Linklater's commentary on this Criterion Collection set. 6/6

Running Scared: I thought this was an 80's movie with Billy Crystal? Oh well, JoBlo thinks Paul Walker's hawt. 6/6

Glory Road: Although a bit melodramatic, it's a helluva lot better than its porn counter part "Glory Hole". 6/6

Black Hawk Down (Extended Cut): An extended cut, seems like all of Ridley's flicks are getting 'em nowadays. 6/6
