DVD Cool News #129

The Latest Announcements

Backdraft (SE) - September 12

I've said it before, but the months of August and September are shaping up to have the most DVDs to purchase then any other month this year, so far. Hopefully you didn't spend all your money on alcohol and buying drinks for ladies hoping to get them back to your place (you might as well burn it, she hates you). BACKDRAFT is truly a guy's guy movie, with shit getting blowed up, stuff catching on fire, fights and even some brotherly love moments that'll have you wondering why you beat the shit out of your little brother in the first place. But then you'll call him up and remember why. He's such a little asshole. No details for this anniversary edition but keep checking back here in the coming days

Prison Break (S1) - August 8

You can find details below for this first season set, and it looks pretty stacked. The guy's tattoos give hints on how to get out of jail or something. That's pretty cool. I'm not a fan of tattoos but I am a fan of the Tramp Stamp (the tattoo on the small of a girl's back). The Tramp Stamp clues me in to the fact that the girl is in fact a tramp, making it easier for the girl and I to become friends. And I don't even have to buy her a drink!

"The Edition That Won't Suck" will include an audio commentary by Mike Judge and Yvette Kaplan, a retrospective making-of segment, a featurette in which composer John Frizzell and Mike Judge detail the use of the music in the film, TV spots directed by Judge, some "Celebrity Shorts", a "12 Days of Beavis" feature, a feature entitled "The Smackdown"and much more. Check back in the coming days for full artwork but for now, head on over HERE for a look at the back cover.

Silent Hill - August 22

No details have been given for SILENT HILL, but you could probably expect seperate Unrated and Rated editions.

"Silent Hill seemed like the perfect party town. You could see the smoke for miles.

Arrested Development (S3) - August 29

I still have yet to see the first couple of seasons, even though they are sitting on my DVD shelf, still in their packaging. But I'll get to it. I swear to God I will. I've been engulfed in GOD of WAR for PS2. Yeah, I know I'm a bit late on it, but give me a break. I can't get past the one part where he has to like, jump from pillar to pillar. Help me out. No details for the third season, but going by the last two seasons, you could probably expect commentaries and deleted scenes.

Green Street Hooligans: Man, how time flies. It feels like I just finished watching Frodo and Sam embrace and now we're seeing Frodo hit someone in the face. 6/13

Dave Chappelle's Block Party: Dave, we're still waiting on Half Baked II. 6/13

Kiss Kiss, Bang Bang: Shane Black, Val Kilmer, Robert Downey Jr., me = there. 6/13

Walker, Texas Ranger (S1): When you say "no one's perfect", Chuck Norris takes this as a personal insult. Add your own Chuck Norris fact, it's fun! 6/13
