United 93 - September 5

Whether it was a good idea or not to make a movie on the events of September 11th, I don't know. You can argue that making a movie on United 93 is doable since no one knows what happened on the flight, but really, it's this or another remake. The disc will include a director’s commentary and a featurette called “United 93: The Families and the Film” – where you can discover the real-life stories behind the brave passengers and crew aboard United Flight 93 through interviews with their families.

Ace Ventura Double Feature - September 5

Here's the artwork for Ace's Double Feature that we announced a couple of weeks ago, along with the detailed specs for your reading enjoyment. My nephew came up to me and started talking with his buttcheeks, Ace Ventura-style. I didn't know whether to laugh, yell at him, or tell his Dad. So I drank another beer and hit on my sister-in-law instead.

Scarface (SE)/Lock Stock and... - October 3

This may be the third or fourth special edition release of SCARFACE. Without knowing what special features are included (details haven't been released yet), I think it's pretty safe to say the edition you already own will suffice. I have the one released in the black "coke" box that also includes the original 1930's Howard Hawks version and other cool shit, so unless this new version has a Brian DePalma/Al Pacino/Steven Bauer commentary on it and includes a couple grams of blow, you should probably pass. Stay tuned for specs as they're released.

In the DVD world, for the most part we Region 1'ers usually get everything first. Well, we're a few years too late on the Director's Cut for LOCK, STOCK AND TWO SMOKING BARRELS. It seems a special edition of the flick has existed for some time now. I encourage our Region 2, UK chums to strike back with what exactly is on the Region 2 special edition. Looks like there might be a commentary and some deleted/alternate/extended scenes. Stay tuned for details, you silly prats!

Let us know what's on the UK special edition or Barry the Baptist will rip your arms off and beat you with them.

Sony Cancels DVD Releases

Those of you looking forward to the upcoming special editions of A FISH CALLED WANDA and DANCES WITH WOLVES will be super bummed to learn that Sony has cancelled the releases indefinitely. No explanation was given as to the reason why they will be cancelled but I encourage everyone to create your own punchline. If Sony lets us know of a date change or a change of mind, we'll let your happy arses know.

"I walked cross country to find out I'm cancelled?! Do you have any idea how f*cking heavy this thing is?"
