2011’s Black List of the best unproduced screenplays

Last Updated on August 5, 2021

It’s always worth taking a look at the Black List every year, as chances are a few of these movies will end up being made and a lot of the time, they’re actually pretty damn good after someone takes a chance on them.

This is a list of the best unproduced screenplays of the year. On last year’s list are titles like SAFE HOUSE and ALL YOU NEED IS KILL, which are being developed for feature release today. Which of these movies below will we actually see come to life in a year or two?

The votes represent the “most liked” screeplays. Check out the top 10 list below. Which of these sound the most interesting to you?

8: The Current War (30) by Michael Mitnick

9: The End (28) by Aron Eli Coleite

What it’s about: Four people – a veteran broadcaster in London, a sixteen year old girl and her boyfriend in Ann Arbor, and a devoted family man in Shanghai – each try to make peace with their lives before an interstellar event ends the world in six hours.

10: Beyond the Pale (27) by Chad Feehan

What it’s about: Teenage siblings suspect they’ve been ripped off by the town undertaker, but what they discover is much more sinister than either imagined.

A lot of sci-fi on there. In fact, it’s almost mostly sci-fi. I can see that Alan Turing movie being a big hit. I’d be very curious to see the Apollo alternate reality one. Also, Chewie sounds fantastic.
