The Latest Announcements

The Passion of The Mel:

DVD Answers sent us the official cover of The Passion of The Christ DVD, courtesy of Fox Home Entertainment. No release dates have been announced but I simply can’t wait for this. I really can’t. From the looks of the one sheet, they didn’t exactly wreck their brains designing it did they?

I know what you're thinking and yes, it stings a little.

The Lost Boys (SE) - August 10

Ever wonder what happened to Ace-the Keifer Sutherland character-at the end of Stand By Me? Well, I'll tell you: He became a vampire, I shit you not. Warner Home Video has put a doozy of a package together as a two disc set for this fantastic and grim portrait of teenage vampires. This movie is so engaging, when you're watching it and someone interrupts you, you'll shout, "Motherf*cker, I'm trying to watch The Lost Boys!" I swear you will.

  • Joel Schumacher's commentary
  • The Lost Boys: A Retrospective - With Schumacher, Richard Donner, Keifer Sutherland, Jami Gertz (hoo haa), Corey's Feldman and Haim (or simply, The Coreys if you're so inclined) and some other dudes
  • A Director's Vision - where Schumacher will (I'm guessing) discuss his process
  • Vamping Out: The Undead Creations of Greg Cannom
Haimster & Feldog: The Story of the 2 Coreys - (I'm not making this up)
  • The Lost Scenes
  • A World of Vampires – Interactive ancient map of the world and the vampires that inhabit it (if you're so inclined)
  • Lost In the Shadows by Lou Gramm (music video)
  • Photo Gallery
  • Theatrical trailer
  • Anamorphic Widescreen
  • English DD5.1 Surround

Look for "Feldog" to be his pretentious self, the "Haimster" whacked out on H, Keifer's gravely voice and a cameo in the movie by Bill S. Preston, Esq. of Wyld Stallyns. Never heard of Wyld Stallyns? Shame on you, you betta ask somebody. $26.99

You guys up for some football? Yeah, us either.

Predator: Collector's Edition - July 20

I remember this one time (not at band camp) when I was a little kid; we were playing on a tree and I fell off and one of my buddies told me that my shin was bleeding, and I replied with that great, Jesse "The Body" Ventura line: "I ain't got time to bleed." Then he kicked my ass....I really wish I didn't just admit that.

  • Audio Commentary by John McTiernan
  • Text Commentary with Film Historian
Inside Look at Alien vs. Predator Trailer and a sneak peek at I Robot
  • Deleted Scene (singular?): "Arnold Schwarzenegger Fleeing Predator"
  • If It Bleeds, We Can Kill It - a documentary
  • Inside The Predator
  • Predator Profile: Six Static Pages
  • Three Predator "Red Suit" Special Effects
  • Two Predator Camouflage Tests
  • Alien Quadrilogy Trailer (hmmm)
  • Seven Featurettes
  • Outtakes
  • Still Gallery
  • English DD5.1 and DTS 5.1 Surround sound
  • Easter Eggs: Jesse's Ultimate Dream, Stan Winston Practical Joker, Don't Drink The Water.

It was cooler when you actually had to search for the Easter Eggs. From Fox Home Entertainment. $26.98

No, I will not make out with you!

Starsky & Hutch - July 20

I've never seen one episode of this show but that shouldn't suggest I won't see the movie. I mean, how can you not? Did you see the moustache on Vince Vaughn? Classic, Reynolds-style. And wasn't this out like two months ago or something? I'm loving how quick these theatre to DVD turnarounds are.

  • Commentary with Director Todd Phillips
  • Vince's Bit for the Kids - (an Easter Egg where he discusses his thoughts on DVD special features. No word on whether or not he utilizes the moustache)
  • Last Look Special - (Documentary Spoof)
  • Fashion Fa Shizzle Wit Huggy Bizzle - (Fashion insights with Snoop Dogg)
  • Deleted Scenes
  • Outtakes
  • Theatrical Trailer

Snoop Dogg rules because he's made up his own language and it's become a phenomenon. Fo Shizzle. From Warner Home Video. $27.95

The greatest moustache since Burt Reynolds.

Early Warnings

Two-disc Hellboy: Special Edition (details to come); two pack Village of the Damned and Children of the Damned; Mulan: Special Edition; Dawson's Creek: The Complete Third Season.

DVDs to be released in the next couple weeks:

Scary Movie 3: Funny because the Wayans' Brothers are nowhere near this. 5/11

Paycheck: Forget what you heard, this is a John Woo movie. He can't make a bad one. 5/18
