"No commentary with me? Rats."

The Shawshank Redemption (SE) - October 5

Finally, a great movie gets the special edition treatment it very much deserves. Yeah, it's ten years later but that's the trend nowadays. You didn't know? Me either. This is coming in both special edition and limited edition, each one boasting the same special features, with the limited edition including film historian Mark Kermode's book about the movie's production and Thomas Newman's soundtrack. Quite possibly the best adaptation of Stephen King's work.

  • Commentary with director Frank Darabont
  • A Shark Tank Redemption spoof
  • two in-depth documentaries
  • 2004 Charlie Rose Show segment
  • Photo Gallery
  • Storyboards
  • Theatrical Trailer

  • 1.85:1 anamorphic widescreen
  • English DD 5.1

Saturday Night Live (4 Best Of's): - September 7

There will be four seperate Saturday Night Live Best Of volumes released starring: Chris Kattan (maybe a minute long?), Tracy Morgan, Will Ferrell and Christopher frickin Walken. I'm excited. Lion's Gate is also releasing on the same day a Will Ferrel 2-pack, which is both of his best of volumes. He's that good.

Walken has a fever, and the only prescription is more cowbell.

New York Minute - August 17

Much like The Arrow's disdain for Lindsey Lohan, the attraction to The Olsen Twins is completely lost on me. To me they look like those little troll dolls with the fuzzy hair your old girlfriend use to collect. I see them and all I hear is, "You got it, dude" or whatever the hell their catchphrase was on that one show. The next trend will be, "Mmm, 17 years and 9 days 'til this smoking one year old is legal." Watch and see.

  • Alternate endings
  • In a New York Minute - featurette
  • Outtakes
  • Mary-Kate and Ashley's Behind the Scenes Slide Show - Includes official behind the scenes and Mary-Kate and Ashley's personal photo album
  • 1.85:1 anamorphic widescreen
  • English and French DD 5.1 tracks

What? No Eugene Levy commentary? Rats.

Hey, who's walking who?

Relentless - August 31

Columbia is releasing this along with Relentless 2 without any features at all, which shouldn't matter because the first Relentless is actually a very good and underrated thriller with a very, very creepy Judd Nelson. Talk about shattering the John Bender image. You should pick this up if you're a fan of a non-Breakfast Club Judd Nelson.

Rounders: Collector's Edition will be released on September 7th. Details to come....

CSI: Miami (S1) Who keeps giving David Caruso work? People, let us not encourage him. 6/29

The Butterfly Effect: Come watch Ashton actually show some acting chops. Beard included. 7/6

Super Friends (S1): The gang's all here. Even Aquaman. Tell me you don't love Aquaman. Liar. 7/6

Red Sonja: Brigitte Nielsen has red hair. But does the carpet match the shade? Hmmm.... 7/6

"Did you ever know that you're my hero? No? F*ck off."
