Catwoman - January 18

Sure it was a crap-fest du jour; but it was a crap fest that showed off the "so good it hurts" body of Halle Berry. Man, sometimes you just need to take the good with the bad. At least that's what my lady friend always says. I wonder if she's talking about me.

  • The Many Faces of Catwoman - Featurette
  • Additional Scenes
  • Alternate endings
  • HBO First Look Special
  • 2.40:1 Anamorphic Widescreen

"I'd stand back if I were you; I just had some nachos."

The Village - January 11

I'm not really sure what to think about The Village, probably because I haven't seen it yet. Some spooky shit goes down, there's a conflict, it gets resolved in this overly-dramatic, revelatory pay off at the end. As that about the gist of it? If not, I'm still there, you spoiled prat.

  • Never before seen deleted scenes
  • Featurette on the making of the film from the premier back to pre-production
  • a special M. Night Shyamalan home movie

What other cool ass director includes snippets of his early stuff?

"...and then, it turns out that I'm not only a dead piano player, but I'm an alien superhero who doesn't like water and stuff. What'chu think?"
"Funny. Get the hell off my set."

The Notebook - December 28

You know one time I was taking the train home and underneath the seat was a book bag. Being the good Christian that I am, I opened it and found a small black book and it contained detailed notes about a dog's shitting cycles. It was weird. No one's ever lucky enough to find a notebook about people loving each other. Only in the movies...thank God.

She may not be the queen of the world, but you can bet she sits on the king's throne.

Pirates of the Caribbean (SE) - November 2

Below are the details for the new Pirates' special edition that we reported a little while ago. This new set includes the existing 2-Disc set and eight new featurettes. No idea why but here it is.

  • Becoming Captain Jack: The film’s star Johnny Depp divulges revelations about fulfilling his boyhood dream of playing a pirate and his unique “take” on Jack Sparrow.
  • Becoming Barbossa: Dive deeper into how actor Geoffrey Rush fleshed out his villainous character.
  • Thar She Blows!: The film’s ship Interceptor is featured, from building it to blowing it up.
  • The Monkey’s Name Is Jack: Meet Levi and Tara, the two tiny masters of mayhem who play the infamous primate pirate, and get Johnny Depp’s and Geoffrey Rush’s recollections on working with them.
  • Pirates Around The World: A fun comparison of dubbed versions from across the seven seas.
  • Fly On The Set Featurettes: Join the filmmakers as they create additional key sequences from the movie.
  • Spirit of the Ride: Johnny Depp, director Gore Verbinski and more of the filmmakers reflect on their earliest memories of the attraction and how it inspired the film.
  • Sneak Attack Animatic: Before executing the movie’s sneak attack sequence, the filmmakers created animation based on how they visualized the scene – and here is the animatic for this exciting scene.
