The Latest Announcements

The Aviator - May 24

I'm a bit bummed out that Scorsese didn't record a commentary for the CASINO special edition which includes a few so-so extras. I'll get over it. The Aviator is looking pretty stocked with cool shit though, so maybe it's not a total lost. Wouldn't be surprised if there's a special edition of this announced when Marty releases his next flick. Stay tuned.

When asked how many projects he worked on in 2004, Jude Law replied, "This many."

Sling Blade (SE) - June 7

I've always thought Billy Bob Thorton to be one of the most talented and humble actors working today. Billy can write, direct, act his ass off, fronts his own band, and dude slays way more tang than Colin Ferrell ever could (though Colin is on a pretty steady pace). Sling Blade took over the indie world upon its release and catapulted Billy Bob Thorton into mainstream recognition, eventually playing the lead in A Simple Plan and Pushing Tin, and with small roles in Homegrown and my favorite, Tombstone.

  • Director’s Cut
  • Two Commentaries - the original laser disc commentary and new commentary
  • Mr. Thornton Goes to Hollywood - The rise of Billy Bob and the evolution of Sling Blade
  • Round table interviews/discussions with Billy Bob, Dwight Yoakam, Mickey Jones, Daniel Lanois, Larry Meistrich, Harvey Weinstein and Lucas Black
  • Still Gallery
  • Swingblade
  • The Return of Carl

Titanic (SE) - October

I know you cats have just been dying for a special edition of the most romantic story of our time. Huh? The old lady banged some dude she didn't even know, while she was involved with the smooth, debonair Billy Zane. What a ho! And at the end, Billy Zane did what any other sensible dude would've done: he escaped with the other rich folk on the getaway boat and left the woman who banged some street rat on the sly on a sinking ship. The only thing the suffered more than Leo freezing in the arctic ocean was my aching buttcheeks. Anyway, there will be a two disc special edition which includes never before seen footage and a four disc collector's edition which includes deleted scenes, making of the film documentaries and so forth. I know that's a little vague, but stay tuned to JoBlo.com for more specific details, and dancing chihuahuas.

"Hey baby, they're playing our song."

Various Special Edition DVDs

If you've been putting off buying Gone in 60 Seconds and Coyote Ugly in the hopes of grabbing a special edition at some point, will my friend, you're in luck. You can grab both on June 7th and both will include new special features such as behind the scenes featurettes, deleted scenes, commentaries, theatrical trailers and something on the Coyote disc that is labeled as "adult related content." Piper Perabo in a g-string? Who knows! And if both of those weren't enough, you can catch Stallone's love story to arm wrestling, Over The Top sometime this year. Sweet! How come arm wrestling never took off the way poker did?

Finding Neverland: Johnny boy, Johnny boy. If Michael Jackson could see you now. 3/22

Doogie Howser M.D. (S1): If what Neil Patrick Harris said in Harold & Kumar was true, he nailed every piece of ass that worked on that show. Even Vinnie? Yep! 3/22

The Final Cut: Robin Williams in serious roles? Thumbs up! 3/22

Fat Albert: Crapity crapola. You'll find out why I think so soon enough. 3/22

"There is no spoon."
