The Latest Announcements

Saw II - February 14

It's sad that the announcement of the Saw II DVD release is overshadowed by the unfortunate and untimely death of producer Gregg Hoffman. While I didn't know him personally, many on the site did and had nothing but praise for one of the "good guys" in the industry. Not to say that the "bad guys" in the industry deserve an untimely death but if there were more good guys, maybe we would see more quality flicks being released than seeing mass produced remakes and unoriginal films whose only goal is to make the c*cksmoker execs and their clan fatter paychecks and shinier cars. Anyway, we'll update you with the cover art when it becomes available.

The Saw II after party was totally bitchin'.

Thumbsucker - January 24

Based on the story of my life, Thumbsucker is about a teenager who still sucks his thumb and when he realizes it's messing up his life, he seeks to rid himself of his.....thumbsucking. He then delves into drugs and sex as a means to overcome his anxiety. And where the hell are my royalties? Sheesh. The film has a stacked cast that includes Keanu Reeves, a creepy looking Vince Vaughn, Tilda Swinton Benjamin Bratt and Private Pyle himself, Vincent D'Onofrio. The flick also was a hit on the film festival circuit. The DVD will have an anamorphic widescreen transfer and English Dolby Digital 5.0 track and include an audio commentary with writer/director Mike Mills and preview trailers. Next up, the sequel to the story of my life, The Bedwetter.

The Legend of Zorro - January 31

As we all know, you introduce a kid in the sequel to a pretty decent first film, and it loses its edge. Also, not hiring Roberto "El Jefe" Rodriguez to direct the first film doesn't help either. Anyway, Catherine has fallen down the ladder since marrying my great-grandfather so I'm not going to shake buildings to scoop this up. However, I know a few of you (God Bless your hearts) have been asking about this, so here ya are! Smoke up Johnny!

  • Commentary with director Martin Cambell

3 Extremes - February 28

I can't imagine how gory this could be, but something tells me I'm going to love it. If someone has already seen this, please send me an email to tell me how it is. I'm dyin' to know. (no pun intended) (yeah right).

  • "Dumplings" Chan's feature-length expansion of his "Extremes" segment
  • Commentary by Miike (in Japanese with subtitles) on his BOX story
  • Anamorphic widescreen
  • English and Spanish subtitles
