Here comes Stannis Baratheon. 

Spoilers for season one of “A Game of Thrones” to follow!

Now that Robert’s dead and has left no (legitimate) heirs, there’s a whole lot of people gunning for the Iron Throne. The man with perhaps the best claim is Stannis Baratheon, the eldest of Robert’s two younger brothers, a cold and humorless man who doesn’t get the support that he thinks he deserves. 

Blood will be shed, folks. “A Clash of Kings”, the second book in the Fire and Ice series that this season season will be based on, has what’s perhaps one of the most exciting sequences in the whole series coming up. This is going to be a good year.
