Howdy pardners! Say, are you fixin' to take in a Western picture in your near future? You are? Well then boy howdy, have I got a trailer for you. You see, Annapurna  Pictures has just released a new trailer for their adventure crime comedy THE SISTERS BROTHERS, and it's a real doozy. Starring John C. ReillyJoaquin PhoenixJake Gyllenhaal, Riz Ahmed, Rebecca Root, Allison Tolman, Rutger Hauer and Carol Kane, this upcoming Western drama is directed by Jacques Audiard (RUST AND BONE, A PROPHET), who also co-wrote the screenplay with Thomas Bidegain. The movie takes audiences back to 1850s Oregon, where a gold prospector is chased by the infamous duo of assassins, the Sisters brothers. Additionally, for all your readin' types out there, you might fancy knowing that the Sisters brothers story is based off the 2011 novel written by Patrick deWitt.

Here's the film's official synopsis:

It is 1851, and Charlie and Eli Sisters (Joaquin Phoenix and John C. Reilly) are both brothers and assassins, boys grown to men in a savage and hostile world. They have blood on their hands: that of criminals, that of innocents…and they know no state of existence other than being gunmen. The older of the two, introspective Eli (Reilly) rides hard with his younger sibling yet dares to dream of a normal life. The younger of the two, hard-drinking Charlie (Phoenix) has taken charge with gusto as lead man on the duo’s assignments. Each increasingly questions, and quibbles with, the other’s methods.

The Sisters brothers find themselves on a journey through the Northwest, bringing them to the mountains of Oregon, a dangerous brothel in the small town of Mayfield, and eventually, the Gold Rush land of California – a journey that will test the deadly family ties that bind. But, can it also be the path to rediscovering what remains of their humanity?

If'n moving pictures don't tune your fiddle, Annapurna also released a batch of new character posters for the film:

The California Gold Rush was a mighty tryin' time to be an outlaw, what with the greed, thievin', and backstabbin' and all. From the look of it, the Sisters brothers are in for one hell of a ride if'n they think their last caper is goin' be a piece of blackberry pie. Either way, it'll be fun to watch them try. Be sure to saddle up for when THE SISTERS BROTHERS moseys on into theaters come on September 21st.
