Alamo Drafthouse recreates the Summer of 1982

Last Updated on August 5, 2021

Was the Summer of 1982 the best Summer of movies ever?

What came out then? Well, it started with CONAN THE BARBARIAN then THE ROAD WARRIOR, ROCKY III, POLTERGEIST, STAR TREK II: THE WRATH OF KHAN, E.T., THE THING, TRON, and last but not least, BLADE RUNNER. Yeah, that does sound like a pretty amazing Summer line-up.

For those of you not yet hatched, now is your chance to see these movies for the first time on the big screen. The Alamo Drafthouse will be screening all eight films on the same weekends they were released in ’82. CONAN THE BARBARIAN will kick the Summer off on May 11th.

Check out the trailer for Summer of 1982 below. To see the rest of the dates and to buy tickets, head to the Alamo Drafthouse site.

Alamo Drafthouse is recreating the “Summer of 1982” to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the greatest summer of movies… ever! From May through July, the theater will replicate 1982’s earth-shaking release schedule, screening eight of the biggest genre classics on the same weekends they were released exactly 30 years ago. Alamo Drafthouse is excited to partner with Ain’t It Cool News, Badass Digest, Collider, Film School Rejects, First Showing, HitFix, Movies & Slashfilm to celebrate this very special (and relentlessly fun) chapter in movie history.
