Amazon unleashes trailer for horror anthology series Lore

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

I've never had the pleasure to listen to Aaron Mahnke's LORE podcast as of yet, though I've heard great things (I mainly just listen to bad movie podcasts like The Flophouse and We Hate Movies). However, it is described on the official website as "an award-winning, critically-acclaimed podcast about true life scary stories. Our fears have roots. Lore exposes the darker side of history, exploring the creatures, people, and places of our wildest nightmares." Well, that sounds right  up my alley! I've always enjoyed studying the darker sides of history that the books like to skip over.

Anyway, Amazon Prime is developing a horror anthology series based on the podcast (which you can see the trailer for above.) Here's the official synopsis:

This anthology series brings to life Aaron Mahnke's "Lore" podcast and uncovers the real-life events that spawned our darkest nightmares. Blending dramatic scenes, animation, archive and narration, Lore reveals how our horror legends – such as vampires, werewolves and body snatchers – are rooted in truth.

Honestly, that seems a novel way to approach this. I'm fascinated about mythology, especially mythology surrounding monsters and superstitions (such as women's independence leading to the myth of the witch, or the threat of '50s conformity leading to the myth of the bodysnatchers). Anyway, I'll definitely be checking LORE out when it comes out!

Meanwhile, LORE will begin streaming on Amazon Prime October 13th.
