American Psycho author Bret Ellis to make directorial debut with The Deleted

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

For those of you who are into the literary stylings of Bret Easton Ellis (American Psycho, The Rules of Attraction, Less Than Zero), then you may find it interesting to know that he’s going to carry his skills over into another medium. Video on-demand, that is. The Hollywood Reporter states that Ellis will helm The Deleted for Fullscreen’s standalone video service. The service, starting tomorrow, will offer a $4.99 monthly ad-free streaming option for those of you who have exhausted all of the other streaming services out there now.

As far as The Deleted goes, the show is said to be a thriller about the disappearance of three people in Los Angeles, California. While they initially seem to be unconnected, their deaths trigger paranoia within a group of twenty-somethings who recently escaped from a cult. The show is set to hit in early 2017.

Ellis has directed some short films in the past, but I’d love to see him work more behind the camera, if only to write and direct his own feature down the road. He’s a pretty ballsy author so I’m hoping that’ll carry over to his directorial efforts in The Deleted and beyond. As far as Fullscreen goes, I suppose we’ll see if folks have enough room in their hearts for another streaming service!
