Amy Heckerling's Vamps gets distribution and a release date

Amy Heckerling's undead comedy VAMPS has been acquired by genre champs Anchor Bay Entertainment who aims to release it this Halloween. The movie stars Alicia Silverstone, Krysten Ritter, Wallace Shawn, and Sigourney Weaver.

There has been buzz building around the movie in recent weeks but we have been hearing about it since last year. Amy Heckerling, who has directed CLUELESS and FAST TIMES AT RIDGEMONT HIGH, has not had a major success in almost 20 years. With Ritter gaining popularity thanks to her new series DON'T TRUST THE B---- IN APARTMENT 23 (which is really funny, by the way), VAMPS may be getting a wider release than anticipated.

Here's the plot:  Beautiful vampires Goody (Silverstone) and Stacy (Ritter) have been enjoying the good life in New York City. As upstanding, politically correct Extended Life Forms (ELFs), the pair hit a support group, “Sanguines Anonymous,” to help curb the temptation of human blood in between their clubbing and dating schedules. When love steals into each of their lives, the pair’s destiny is set on a new course and they must make a choice that will jeopardize their immortality—and maybe much more.

It sounds like fun to me and Alicia Silverstone was one of my high school era crushes.  Krysten Ritter is all kinds of quirky hot, Sigourney Weaver is awesome, and Wallace Shawn is Vizzini!  This could be a fun flick.
