Another ghost movie from Hammer Film appears called The Quiet Ones

The Woman In Black ghostly posterAfter an opening weekend for THE WOMAN IN BLACK which exceeded all expectations from the studio by grossing over $21 million, Hammer Films is quickly moving to capitalize on its ghostly success with a new movie bearing the name THE QUIET ONES that will be directed by John Pogue (QUARENTINE 2: TERMINAL).

"Inspired by true events, THE QUIET ONES tells the story of an unorthodox professor who uses controversial methods and leads his best students off the grid to take part in a dangerous experiment: to create a poltergeist. Based on the theory that paranormal activity is caused by human negative energy, the rogue scientists perform a series of tests on a young patient, pushing her to the edge of sanity.  As frightening occurrences begin to take place with shocking and gruesome consequences, the group quickly realizes they have triggered a force more terrifying and evil than they ever could have imagined."

A horror movie with a different plot device that actually hasn't been tried and tested to death? I'm sold.  And speaking of being sold, the movie will be shopped around at the upcoming European Film Market, so we'll most likely be hearing more about co-financing/distribution soon as shooting is set to start this May in South Africa.

Hammer Films old school title screen

Extra Tidbit: Maybe I just haven't seen enough horror films to know if this scenario isn't actually all that original - anybody out there ever encountered something similar?
