Anthonfred Hopcock?

I once took an Alfred Hitchcock course in university and I'm glad I did, because now I can name drop a handsome amount of Hitchcock films, stars, themes, preoccupations, etc. Since then,I've considered myself somewhat of a Hitchcock connoisseur, so I'm a little more than thrilled that a long-due Hitchcock biopic seems to finally be on the way.

The MTV Movie Blog is confirming that Anthony Hopkins will portray the master of suspense in a film called ALFRED HITCHCOCK PRESENTS, to be written and directed by Ryan Murphy, creator of television's NIP/TUCK. Murphy's last foray into film RUNNING WITH SCISSORS wasn't a critical success, but this is the creator of NIP/TUCK, which despite some lackluster latest seasons, is one of the most talked about series on television.

The film will apparently focus o Hitch's effort to make PSYCHO and Helen Mirren has been rumoured to play his wife and collaborator, Alma Reville. Besides working on the fifth season of NIP/TUCK, Murphy is also working on the film DIRTY TRICKS with Brad Pitt and Meryl Streep, as well as NEED, with Nicole Kidman and Naomi Watts, so there's no telling when this thing will get off the ground. If I were to cast Hitch, I'd choose Michael Gambon, but I'm not a casting director for a reason.

Extra Tidbit: Hopkins recently signed to play Benicio Del Toro's father in the remake of THE WOLFMAN.
