Arnold Schwarzenegger says Eddie Murphy “loves” the idea for Triplets

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

Arnold Schwarzenegger has plans to revisit several of his iconic characters, he will reprise his role of the Terminator in the upcoming TERMINATOR: GENISYS as well as having THE LEGEND OF CONAN in development; however there remains one character that fans want to see more than any other, that of Julius Benedict from TWINS. Do they though? You might by lying there Kevin.

Arnold Schwarzenegger sat down with Howard Stern earlier in the week to discuss his life and career and the topic of the long-in-development sequel to TWINS was brought up:

Now we are talking about a sequel, where we find out at the funeral of our mother, that when we read the will, that there’s three of us. Eddie Murphy is going to be the third one and so they say, ‘How did that happen’ then we have an African American coming in here and all of a sudden he’s our brother. So we go to do the research but he can only get the money if we find him, so now we have to get him involved.

The idea of a TWINS sequel which would bring together Arnold, Danny DeVito, and Eddie Murphy has been kicking around for a while, in fact the last we heard of TRIPLETS was that the script by Josh Gad and Ryan Dixon was complete, but that Universal had pressed the pause button for some reason. It seems as though work on TRIPLETS has resumed as Schwarzenegger mentions that the script is currently being fine-tuned. Eddie Murphy has never really given me the impression that he's on board with this whole TRIPLETS idea, but Arnold Schwarzenegger confirmed that Eddie Murphy is game should the project move forward:

Eddie Murphy loves the idea. Danny DeVito and I had lunch with Eddie Murphy over at my house, and we talked about the thing, and we were laughing and laughing the whole meal through because it was such a funny idea. And of course, who wouldn’t like it.

TERMINATOR: GENISYS opens in theaters on July 1, 2015.
