If you've been waiting for an update on Arnold Schwarzenegger's THE LEGEND OF CONAN, I have some good news for you. Producer Fredrik Malmberg recently told The Arnold Fans that the script is done, and production could start as early as this fall, once Schwarzenegger is done promoting TERMINATOR: GENISYS. Malmberg also told the site that "Our marching orders from the studio were to create a film worthy as a successor to the 1982 film, which was pretty brutal." Co-writer/producer Chris Morgan had this to say when asked if we'll be getting a light-hearted Conan flick.

A light-hearted Conan?! CROM! No. Our tone is a logical extension of the character established in the ’82 film…but 30 years later. When we meet him again, Conan has been many things over the course of his life — a thief, a warrior, a pirate, a king, a legend — and is now an older man. Think Unforgiven…with a sword-wielding barbarian.

THE LEGEND OF CONAN won't be a reboot, but a sequel to the original 1982 movie, and co-writer/producer Chris Morgan also told The Arnold Fans at least three other characters will be back for the film, although he didn't reveal which ones. The project still doesn't have a director yet, so who do you want behind the camera for the CONAN THE BARBARIAN sequel?

Arnold Schwarzenegger's TERMINATOR: GENISYS will hit theaters on July 1, 2015.
