Award for Travolta

There was a time that I hated John Travolta (you sleep with Kelly Preston, John. Don’t do the crime if you can’t do the time, guy), but I went a total 180 on the guy and now I’m actually happy that, as Variety is reporting, he will be honored with the second annual Kirk Douglas Award for Excellence in Film by the Santa Barbara Film Festival. Kirk Douglas himself will present the kudos to Travolta on Nov. 16 at a black-tie gala at the Four Seasons Biltmore. Obviously there’s gonna be a lot of talk about his earlier films (when he spent a lot of time dancing), and then that glorious comeback that he made with PULP FICTION, but personally my favourite role of his was in A LOVE SONG FOR BOBBY LONG, which I think is a criminally underrated film. Sure he’s done a lot of shitty roles, like playing a chubby terrorist in SWORDFISH or the ‘work’ he did on THE PUNISHER, but when the guy turns it on I have nothing but the utmost respect for him. What do you guys think? Favourite performances? Or hate him because you can’t get over the fact that he sleeps with Kelly Preston/has his own Jet/made BATTLEFIELD EARTH?
