Awesome fan poster for Obi-Wan Kenobi spinoff makes you want the movie now

We learned a few months ago that Disney was set to make a spinoff movie around Obi-Wan Kenobi with Stephen Daldry in talks to helm. We’ve heard nothing about it in the time since, and many a’ geek around the world are probably getting a little impatient. Such is the case for one fan in particular, who went ahead and stoked the flames by making their own teaser poster for the film.

The poster comes from Reddit user Rikard_ and shows an older Kenobi standing on top of one of the sand dunes on the planet Tatooine (on the high ground), where he famously left a baby Luke with his aunt and uncle. Across the center of the poster are the planets dual suns, juxtaposing on across a starry night sky. On top of that, they made a logo with the title KENOBI: A STAR WARS STORY, which probably isn't far off from what would be the movie's real title.

Kenobi movie confirmed yet? I'm not sure but I made a poster anyway from StarWars

The original story broke back in August, but since then the news media has been in LAST JEDI and SOLO: A STAR WARS STORY mode and the Obi-Wan movie has sort of been put on the back burner. This may be because we don’t know much about the movie, like who would be writing the script and if Ewan McGregor would be returning to play the character. He returned for a minor voice cameo in FORCE AWAKENS, so that does hint he and Lucasfilm/Disney are on a good working basis.

The poster is brilliant and captures the true essence of what a great Kenobi movie could be, which would no doubt find the character living a lonely life among the sand on Tatooine. I’m not saying the movie has to go all LOGAN on us, but there’s so much you can do with Kenobi, and so many years to cover between REVENGE OF THE SITH and A NEW HOPE. This poster makes me want the movie now, and hopefully, it’s the next spinoff we get after SOLO.

SOLO: A STAR WARS STORY hits theaters May 25, 2018.
