Bad voiceover is just one of Tom Hanks’ problems in Hologram trailer

Here's a challenge for you…

Press play on the trailer below for A HOLOGRAM FOR THE KING, Tom Tykwer's adapation of David Eggers' novel starring Tom Hanks, and see how far you can get before you feel absolutely compelled to hit the Stop button, thus ending your misery.

If you can get beyond a minute, you may be deserving of some type of medal.

Roadside Attractions dropped this look at the film earlier today and they should be praying to the sun, the moon and every deity in between that CAPTAIN AMERICA: CIVIL WAR has given them cover on this particular day, so more people aren't discussing what an awful trailer this is.

That voiceover… What is that voiceover?? It sounds as if I'm listening to the trailer for some 80s teen comedy starring Patrick Dempsey as it's being prepped for its VHS home release.

Perhaps the movie itself might turn out okay. I'm always willing to give anything with Tom Hanks in it a better shot than most, but this might be one of the worst trailers I have ever seen? How the hell is this supposed to sell the movie to anyone?

Cultures collide when an American businessman (Tom Hanks) is sent to Saudi Arabia to close what he hopes will be the deal of a lifetime. Baffled by local customs and stymied by an opaque bureaucracy, he eventually finds his footing with the help of a wise-cracking taxi driver (Alexander Black) and a beautiful Saudi doctor (Sarita Choudhury).

A HOLOGRAM FOR THE KING premieres at the Tribeca Film Festival before its release on April 22.
