Jason Bateman will reteam with his JUNO director Jason Reitman on the upcoming comedy UP IN THE AIR. Bateman will star alongside George Clooney in the DreamWorks adaptation of the Walter Kirn book. In the film Clooney stars as a corporate downsizer blindly moving through life with the sole ambition of earning one million frequent flyer miles. Bateman will play Clooney’s boss in the film with Anna Kendrick and Vera Farmiga co-starring. It’s just one part of a very busy year for Bateman which includes the upcoming releases STATE OF PLAY, EXTRACT and COUPLES RETREAT. He’ll also begin filming the comedy BASTER with Jennifer Aniston as soon as UP IN THE AIR wraps. Then, of course, there is the of-rumored “Arrested Development” movie that is constantly in the works. And while I’ve been a vocal critic of JUNO in the past, I chalk that up primarily to the script and I look forward to see what Reitman can do with this material.
