Benicio Del Toro hasn't been in the spotlight too much as of late, aside from lending his quirky mannerisms to The Collector in GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY. Fortunately, what we have here is a trailer featuring what the actor does best. There's just something about him playing a potentially threatening character and the way he gives others 'that look', when he phrases certain words. Subtle or no, you know the man means business, and in ESCOBAR: PARADISE LOSE, a young surfer who meets his niece will discover just that.

Admittedly Josh Hutcherson hasn't exactly won me over in any of the roles he's tackled, but del Toro is too much fun to watch playing theses types of characters. I'm not expecting a factual story with this one, but Andrea Di Stefano looks like he's nailed the tone with his directorial debut here.

ESCOBAR: PARADISE LOST will arrive in theaters January 16, 2015.
