Bill Condon’s The Fifth Estate with Benedict Cumberbatch’s Julian Assange begins production

Dreamworks has released a press release stating that its Julian Assange movie has begun shooting in Los Angeles. The movie will supposedly be about the time that Julian Assange portrayed actor Benedict Cumberbatch in an attempt to see if he could win a Best Actor Oscar at the 2014 Academy Awards, and the internet is already buzzing over who the possible villian may be. Or something. Actually, none of that makes much sense… just to be safe, here’s the official synopsis released by Dreamworks:

Following Daniel Domscheit-Berg (Brühl), an early supporter and eventual colleague of Julian Assange (Cumberbatch), “The Fifth Estate” traces the heady, early days of WikiLeaks, culminating in the release of a series of controversial and history changing information leaks. The website’s overnight success brought instant fame to its principal architects and transformed the flow of information to news media and the world at large.

It’s getting difficult these days for me to keep my Benedict Cumberbatch projects separate inside my head, which makes the Guide to Cumberbatch’s Character’s Hairdos that Dreamworks sent along with the press release an amazingly conveinent tool, with very helpful rhyming schemes:

If It’s Black: It’s That STAR TRACK!

If It’s Brown: You’re in PARADE’S END Town!

If It’s Whiter Than Blonde: Must be Assange and Bill Condon!

The film, from a scirpt by Josh Singer (FRINGE, THE WEST WING), is already shaping up to be quite amazing, with only a single photo under its belt. At this rate, when a trailer hits, it may cause heart palpatations. Aside from Cumberbatch, it will also be featuring Laura Linney, Anthony Mackie, David Thewlis, Peter Capaldi, Dan Stevens, Alicia Vlkander, and Caprise van Houten when it hits theaters on February 15th, 2014.
