Bill Murray will play Franklin D. Roosevelt in the adaptation of Hyde Park on Hudson

And God willing, he will wear that absolutely stupendous hat.

According to spy reports over at Vulture, Bill Murray, one of the coolest, no-bullshit actors in the game, has officially agreed to play the 32nd President of the United States in HYDE PARK ON HUDSON.

The film, a feature adaptation of the 2009 Richard Nelson BBC radio play, tells of “the quasi-incestuous love affair between the president and his distant cousin, Margaret Stuckley, and takes place on the June 1939 weekend that the British King and Queen visited Roosevelt at his upstate New York cottage, in the first-ever visit to America by a member of the United Kingdom monarchy.” Nelson will adapt his own work for the screen, while filmmaker Roger Mitchell (MORNING GLORY, NOTTING HILL) directs.

HYDE PARK ON HUDSON is expected to commence production this July.
