Blake Lively to carry on the Sex and the City torch?

Okay, so I’ll admit that I did watch SEX AND THE CITY in its entirety. I’m sure there are other ladies around here that have. However, I did not watch the movies. I saw the trailers then thought, “But why?!” It just didn’t appeal to me anymore.

Now it’s time for Carrie Bradshaw and friends to appeal to a new generation of females.

It’s being reported by Grazia (via MTV) that the three hookers and their mom could come back, but with younger stars. Now, it won’t be a whole new series. The only thing that they are talking about is a prequel film which would be an adaptation of Candace Bushnell’s bestselling book, The Carrie Diaries. The teenage years of Ms. Bradshaw would play out on the big-screen.

SEX AND THE CITY producer Michael Patrick King already has his sights set on the lady he wants to play the young Carrie and that lady is Blake Lively. The insider that provided said information also mentioned this, “There are no plans to bring SJP and the other girls back together in the old format. The prequel is about breathing new life into the story and exploring Carrie’s first few months in NYC and the beginning of her relationship with an older man.” But isn’t GOSSIP GIRLS sort of similar? It’s a serious question, I don’t watch it.

Oh and it is possible that if this movie does well that something else could be in the works. Bushnell just finished another novel featuring the young Carrie called, Summer in the City.
