Bonsai! Daniel Larusso chops car prices down in new Cobra Kai clip

For as long as I can recall, I've loved obnoxious car commercials. Not the professionally made ones that feature a booming voice over and an overly-produced rock anthem, but the public access ads that are almost too cringey to watch while sober. The best of these shoddily-made marketing ploys typically air in the wee hours of the morning, sandwiched between local jewelry store advertisements - the kind that feature the owner's supremely untalented and awkward family members. Also, word up to the people behind the original Sobakawa Pillow. May your ten-pound barbel demonstration live on in infamy.

Today, YouTubeRed has released what some would say is a hilarious-yet-eye-rolling clip from the upcoming COBRA KAI series featuring Ralph Macchio's Daniel Larusso hocking vehicles for his posh car dealership. Complete with shattering graphics and a glad-handing grin, Larusso pours it on real thick as he summons the philosophies of Mr. Miyagi to make an honest buck.

When COBRA KAI launches on YouTubeRed in May, a down-and-out Johnny, whose looking to turn his life around by reintroducing the teachings of his old dojo, Cobra Kai, invites the next generation of would-be fighters to learn under his hardened rule. However, that's not exactly sitting well with Daniel, who still carries the values taught to him by his sensei, Mr. Miyagi, into his everyday life.

COBRA KAI will find Xolo Maridueña (PARENTHOOD) as Miguel Diaz, a victim of high school bullies who’s taken under Johnny’s wing; Tanner Buchanan (DESIGNATED SURVIVOR) as Johnny’s son, Robby Keene, who’s determined to prove himself to be nothing like his father; and guest-star Ed Asner as Johnny’s old-school stepfather, Sid Weinberg. The series also stars Courtney Henggeler as Daniel's wife and business partner, Amanda, while Mary Mouser (FREAKISH) enters the story as their spitfire daughter, Samantha.

COBRA KAI will be written by Josh Herald, Jon Hurwitz and Hayden Schlossberg. The highly-anticipated show based on THE KARATE KID franchise is scheduled to bow on YouTubeRed beginning on May 2nd.
