Last Updated on July 30, 2021

With Brie Larson's CAPTAIN MARVEL set to go nova at the box office this weekend, it's to be understood that the ROOM and KONG: SKULL ISLAND alumna will have studios practically blowing her house down in an attempt to land her for their next project. While others have undoubtedly tried and failed to court Marvel's next big star for their upcoming endeavors, it's Apple that has signed Larson to topline their untitled female-focused CIA drama based on Amaryrillis Fox’s upcoming memoir. The aforementioned project that hails from Lynette Howell Taylor’s 51 Entertainment and Michael Ellenberg’s Media Res. recently received a straight-to-series order, which Larson will also executive produce.

In final negotiations to write and executive produce the series is ANIMAL KINGDOM writer-producer Megan Martin. For those of you keeping score at home, Martin was also the scribe of GINGER SNAPS 2: UNLEASHED, one of the most satisfying sequels in the werewolf sub-genre. The yet-to-be-titled series is said to be pulling from the real-life experiences of CIA undercover operative Amaryllis Fox and her upcoming memoir Undercover: Coming of Age in the CIA. Described as a provocative and contemporary look at a young woman’s journey in the CIA, Fox's stroy is told through the prism of her closest relationships. (via Deadline)

According to reports, Taylor, Ellenberg and Larson joined forces to option the novel, which is set to hit bookstore shelves on October 15th courtesy of Knoph. The untitled project marks Media Res' second series order at Apple after the streamer secured a Morning Show drama headlined and produced by Jennifer Aniston and Reese Witherspoon. Both ladies will star in the project, which was said to have been in hot contention before Apple swooped in for the kill.

Alright folks, are you ready for a producer rundown? I certainly hope so, because there are a lot of heads preparing to hit this smoking hot series. Howell Taylor is executive producing via her 51 Entertainment banner alongside Larson. Meanwhile, Ellenberg will also act as an executive producer through Media Res. Moreover, Samantha Housman will serve as an executive producer through 51 Entertainment; and Dani Goren will come aboard as co-executive producer through Media Res.

The future is looking quite bright for Ms. Larson, my friends. Now lets all head to the theater this weekend to watch her punch holes in the sky as Marvel's newest Captain! Higher, further, faster, baby! Let's goooooooo!
