Cannes 2021 Lineup: Wes Anderson, Paul Verhoeven movies to premiere

cannes 2021 lineup, film festival

After taking a year off due to the pandemic, The Cannes Film Festival seems on the verge of making a major comeback! This morning, the full list of titles for the upcoming festival (slated for July 6th to 17th on the French Riviera) were announced and, as expected, it was chockful of huge titles, including Wes Anderson's much delayed The French Dispatch (now coming out October 22nd) and Paul Verhoeven's lesbian erotic nun movie Benedetta. Other titles slated to play the fest include Leos Carax's Sparks musical Annette, starring Adam Driver and Marion Cotillard, Tom McCarthy's Stillwater starring Matt Damon, Sean Penn's Flag Day, and, perhaps most intriguingly, something called JFK Revisited: Through The Looking Glass by Oliver Stone.

You can see the whole list of titles below (courtesy of Deadline), but I for one am happy to see Cannes seems to be back with a vengeance. I still hope to attend one year (although due to travel restrictions – this won't be it), and sure enough this seems to be an epic year for the iconic festival.
