Casting Two-fer: Lizzy Caplan joins The Interview and Maggie adds Joely Richardson

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

Couple of quick casting updates this morning:

Empire is reporting Lizzy Caplan (HOT TUB TIME MACHINE) has signed on for the comedy THE INTERVIEW. The film will be directed by Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg, and based off of a story by Daily Show vet Dan Sterling. The film is about a talk show host and his producer who somehow get involved with a plot to assassinate the North Korean prime minister. Rogen will also star in the flick as the producer, and James Franco will play the talk show host. Caplan will play an intelligence operative named Lacey in the mini Freaks and Geeks reunion.

With MAGGIE already filming one would think casting was complete, but apparently there was one more role left to be filled. The Wrap has learned Joely Richardson (EVENT HORIZON) has joined MAGGIE, which is about a father (Arnold Schwarzenegger) helping his daughter Maggie (Abigail Breslin) deal with turning into a zombie after the virus has spread across the country. Richardson will be playing Maggie's mother, and I wonder if it's a smaller part since the film is already in production, meaning there's a chance she'll die early in the movie. Hey I don't want her to die, I'm just speculating here.

Both films currently do not have release dates, but MAGGIE and THE INTERVIEW will probably hit theaters sometime in 2015.
