Actresses Catherine Zeta-Jones and Judy Greer are the latest to be added to the group of dissatisfied women looking to get boned by the poor man’s Russell Crowe, Gerard Butler, in the soccer/sex comedy PLAYING THE FIELD.
According to the LAT’s 24 Frames blog, Jones and Greer will portray “a vixen newscaster” and “a hot-and-bothered housewife” respectively. The two join the recently cast Uma Thurman and Jessica Biel as ladies who become enamored with Butler’s little league soccer coach charms. The story is that of “an accomplished Beckham-like pro (Butler) who after living a playboy life throughout Europe returns to his estranged American wife and child to try to reconcile with them. He begins coaching youth soccer to show his commitment. But things get sticky when a number of the local women take a shine to him.”
PLAYING THE FIELD – written by Robbie Fox (IN THE ARMY NOW) and now reportedly re-written by Stuart Blumberg (THE KIDS ARE ALL RIGHT) – will be directed by PURSUIT OF HAPPYNESS director Gabriele Muccino.
