Cedric the night entertainer

When I read the headline that Cedric the Entertainer (BE COOL) had joined the cast of NIGHT WATCH (previously known as THE NIGHT WATCHMAN) I shuddered and prayed for it to be in the only role that I could possibly bear. Thankfully, it turned out my prayers were answered: he is to play a police informant.

I’m really looking forward to this movie, I think the jury is still out on David Ayer (HARSH TIMES), but – unlike loads of you – I thing Keanu Reeves is a great actor, Forest Whitaker is now undeniably awesome and so is James Ellroy. I’m expecting a really hard-boiled crime drama where Keanu kicks loads of ass and drunks loads of alcohol. My concern of course, was that Cedric the Entertainer was going to be cast as some kind of lovable Police Captain or something, which I can see someone thinking would be a great idea. As I said though, thankfully he will be playing a kind of modern day ‘Huggy Bear’, as Cedric says, “named Scribbles… but it’s not comedic. I’m a street guy and I’m on some drugs a little bit. The director said that this would be a great serious role for me.” Roll on!
