Charlize Theron & Atomic Blonde to kick ass at San Diego Comic-Con

Entertainment Weekly is making plans to turn their annual "Women Who Kick Ass" panel up to eleven when they host the outlet's first-ever Icon Edition of the fan-favorite event! Now that all the arrangements have been made, EW has announced that the star and producer of the film, Charlize Theron, will join the event on July 22nd.

As per the official press release:

Theron, an Oscar-winning actress who consistently embodies strength, searing intelligence and steely determination on screen, is the perfect icon to inaugurate this annual panel which celebrates and recognizes the most powerful, empowering female stars in pop culture.

Theron will be featured on the cover of EW’s “Inside Comic-Con,” a bonus issue, which will be distributed by F.Y.E – For Your Entertainment – sponsored street teams on the ground in San Diego throughout the weekend, and can be purchased beginning Thursday, July 20, on all tablet devices. The cover story, written by EW senior writer Sara Vilkomerson, is a must-read for Comic-Con attendees. Vilkomerson will also interview Theron at the “Women Who Kick Ass” panel. Additionally, EW’s always-popular Comic-Con preview double issue will hit newsstands nationwide July 14th.

“Comic-Con has always been a celebration of and for the fans, and their favorite stars and franchises. This year, we’re so excited to host our annual panel, ‘Women Who Kick Ass,’ with the ultimate kick-ass icon, Charlize Theron,” said Henry Goldblatt, Editor in Chief of ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY. “In 2017, EW’s Comic-Con coverage will be bigger and better than ever, as we double-down on content across all our platforms, including EW Radio on SiriusXM and the new addition of ‘EW: The Show,’ from our streaming network, PEN, in the EW Studio and from the convention hall floor.”

Okay, people, things are getting serious, now. If I travel all the way to San Diego, and don't get the opportunity to meet Ms. Theron, I will never forgive myself. ATOMIC BLONDE looks like it's going to be a hell of a good time at the movies and I'd imagine that EW have more than a few surprises lined up for fans who attend their mega-popular panel. Personally, I wouldn't mind an invite to an early evening screening of the film. I suppose we'll have to wait and see what transpires, but nevertheless, Theron and ATOMIC BLONDE will be at SDCC to get you pumped for the action thriller that's been lovingly nicknamed "JOAN WICK" by those who're looking forward to the spy-on-spy thrill ride.

ATOMIC BLONDE starring Charlize Theron, Sofia Boutella, James McAvoy, Bill Skarsgard, and John Goodman opens in theaters on July 28th.

Extra Tidbit: Theron once had a huge crush on Tom Hanks growing up after seeing him in the movie Splash. As luck would have it, she later starred in Hanks' directorial debut, THAT THING YOU DO!
