Check out the trailer for Sam Shepard’s final film Never Here

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

This year we lost one of the greats in Sam Shepard, but the actor starred in one final movie before his passing, leaving us with one more token of his genius left to marvel at.  This comes in the form of the movie NEVER HERE starring Shepard and Mireille Enos, a crime thriller shot in 2014 and made its debut this year at the Los Angeles Film Festival and is set to be released October 20.

Here is the plot synopsis for the film (via EW):

NEVER HERE follows an installation artist, Miranda (The Killing‘s Mireille Enos), whose latest photography project involves documenting the lives of strangers. Simultaneously carrying on a secret love affair, her beau witnesses a violent act while peering out her apartment window, prompting Miranda to pose as the primary witness in order to protect his identity, feeding false information to police based on events she didn’t witness.

There’s something bittersweet about seeing Shepard in the trailer for this new movie. Of course he is not the first actor to posthumously star in a film, but nonetheless, it adds to the experience in an unexpected way. The movie itself looks mind-bending, eerie and hypnotic, and has so far earned solid marks, and I feel like this isn't the last time we hear about it.

NEVER HERE hits theaters October 20.
