Today, Orion Pictures and other MGM companies have launched a fake website as part of a brilliant marketing campaign for director Lars Klevberg's CHILD'S PLAY reboot starring LEGION and PARKS AND RECREATION star Aubrey Plaza as Karen Barclay, a mother who gives her son a toy doll for his birthday, unaware of its more sinister nature. Joining Plaza for the toys-to-life horror film is Brian Tyree Henry (IF BEALE STREET COULD TALK) as Detective Mike Norris, and Gabriel Bateman (LIGHTS OUT) as young Andy Barclay, among others.

Back in September, Klevberg told Entertainment Weekly that the original film is "one of my all-time horror movies and it was one of my introductions to horror. I got the script [for the remake] and it was really really good, and I knew it was from the producers from It, and I jumped in immediately." Unfortunately, Don Mancini, who has penned every installment of the series in addition to directing the last three, isn't as excited about the reboot as many of us are likely to be. We know this because Mancini neglected to give the reboot his nod of approval, and even turned down a chance to executive produce the reboot alongside longtime CHILD'S PLAY franchise producer David Kirschher. Nevertheless, Klevberg remains rather excited by the opportunity to introduce a whole new generation to Chucky's particularly deadly brand of playtime. He told EW was much when he said that he's a "huge fan of Don Mancini," and that "[If] he was making this movie with us it would be really amazing, but we understand he has his reasons. We are extremely grateful to him and will always be. He’s someone I look up to."

Never you fear, though, Good Guy fans! As of this moment, Mancini is hard at work developing a CHILD'S PLAY TV series which will be a continuation of the events chronicled in the feature film franchise. For the moment, Mancini is saying that the series will be more "dark and disturbing" than previous installments, and that fans can look forward to seeing Chucky at his worst ever, once the show arrives.

In addition to launching the fake website, Orion and MGM also released a series of fun new posters for Buddi's big toy store debute. You can check them out for yourself below:
