Chris Hemsworth and Cate Blanchett each try to explain the term “Ragnarok”

Last Updated on July 30, 2021

Like most people, I can’t wait for THOR: RAGNAROK. Also, like most people, I’m surprised to be saying that, as not only has Thor never really been anyone’s favorite Avenger, but Thor’s films have also generally been the weakest of whatever phase they were a part of as well. However, having Taika Waititi at the helm, and letting star Chris Hemsworth let his comedic flag fly, seems to be a winning combination. Not only that, but Cate Blanchett looks like she’s poised to be one of the better villains in the MCU roster.

But what is a “Ragnarok” anyway? Most people know that it’s the mythological apocalypse of the Norse Gods (of which Thor is very loosely based on), or a comic-book arc where Dr. Doom escaped Hell by using Mjolnir. Either way, the video above has Chris Hemsworth – then Cate Blanchett – explain the meaning to you. Enjoy!

Meanwhile, THOR: RAGNAROK will slam into theaters November 2nd.
