Clive Owen, Julianne Moore, Lisey's Story

Is there a week which goes by without some form of Stephen King news? The prolific author has had just about every novel and short story transformed into a film or TV series, and one of the many upcoming King projects is Lisey's Story, an eight-episode limited series which is set to debut on Apple TV+.

Julianne Moore signed on to star in Lisey's Story earlier this year, and it's now been reported that Clive Owen has joined up as well. The deeply personal thriller will follow Lisey (Moore) two years after the death of her husband and explore a series of events which cause Lisey to face amazing realities about her husband which she had repressed and forgotten. Clive Owen will play Scott Landon, Lisey's husband. This will mark Owen's first role in a TV series since The Knick, which you should absolutely watch if you haven't. I'm still feeling bummed about its cancellation. It will also serve as a bit of a reunion as Owen and Moore both starred in CHILDREN OF MEN. Stephen King will be writting all eight episodes of Lisey's Story himself as well as serving as executive producer.

A synopsis of "Lisey's Story" via Amazon:

Lisey lost her husband Scott two years ago, after a twenty-five year marriage of profound and sometimes frightening intimacy. Scott was an award-winning, bestselling novelist and a very complicated man. Early in their relationship, before they married, Lisey knew there was a place Scott went—a place that both terrified and healed him, could eat him alive or give him the ideas he needed in order to live. Now it’s Lisey’s turn to face Scott’s demons, to go to that terrifying place known as Boo’ya Moon. What begins as a widow’s effort to sort through the papers of her celebrated husband becomes a nearly fatal journey into the darkness he inhabited.

Clive Owen will next be seen starring alongside Will Smith in GEMINI MAN, which hit theaters tomorrow. You can check out a review from our own Chris Bumbray right here.
