Cool Videos: Ruairi Robinson’s evil robot short Blinky

If the mascot of JJ Abrams’ production company Bad Robot got his own short film, it might look something like “Blinky™” a short film by Ruairi Robinson. In the short, which stars Max Records (WHERE THE WILD THINGS ARE), a wealthy family buys Blinky, a robot that’s meant to help out around the house and, seemingly, provide some companionship for the young son. But if TOY STORY has taught us anything, it’s that kids don’t always treat their toys very well. But Blinky takes it a little differently than Woody or Buzz Lightyear…

Robinson is a director once attached to AKIRA at Warner Bros. and most recently THE ANIMATORS. I’d imagine with “Blinky,” a wonderfully twisted little short, he’ll start getting himself a lot more offers for work. Check out the short below…
