Perhaps trying to outdo the current actor/director buddy champs Leonardo DiCaprio and Martin Scorsese, Russell Crowe and Ridley Scott have signed on to again reteam on an upcoming movie. Crowe and Scott will work together on NOTTINGHAM, the previously announced “Robin Hood” retelling that would have Crowe starring as the Sheriff of Nottingham. The film imagines the storyline where the Sheriff is the good guy and Robin Hood is just a dirty thief. Universal bought the script by Ethan Reiff and Cyrus Voris (“Sleeper Cell”) earlier this year for Crowe to star. Currently both DiCaprio/Scorsese and Crowe/Scott are tied at three films a piece. Team Crott is going in for the kill with NOTTINGHAM but don’t count out Team Scaprio just yet (DiCaprio is going undercover with Scott on the upcoming film BODY OF LIES). Filming on NOTTINGHAM is expected to begin earlier next year. Crowe has TENDERNESS, AMERICAN GANGSTER and 3:10 TO YUMA set for release later this year.
