Damon Lindelof to write original sci-fi film for Disney

Damon Lindelof has made a seven figure deal with Disney to do an original (yes, people still have original ideas) sci-fi film for Disney. Lindelof will write and produce the project.

Deadline says that they could not squeeze any details out of anybody. The only thing they got was a working title, 1952. One of the other things that they heard was that the project will possibly have “multiple platform aspirations”. So not only will it be made into a film but it could also be a game, series, cartoon, secret episode of LOST, ride, etc.

This is the first film that Lindelof is planning from the ground up. The project came out of a few meetings that the writer had with Disney’s production president Sean Bailey and senior exec Brigham Taylor.

Right now, Lindelof is working diligently with Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci on the sequel to STAR TREK so it can start shooting at the end of this year or early next year. He’s also apparently apologized to January Jones for saying she sucks at acting. A few days ago he tweeted this, “Emma Frost’s THREE mutant powers: Telepathy, Transformation to Solid Diamond and last but not least, Sucking at Acting.” It made me laugh my ass off. But last night he tweeted this, “I am only slightly less disgusted with the amount of play my X-Men comment got than I am with myself for making it in the first place.”
