Daredevil Season 3 adds Hart of Dixie actor Wilson Bethel for critical role

As Marvel fans are undoubtedly still cleaning the blood out of their eyes after watching Marvel's THE PUNISHER on Netflix, Variety has received word of some fresh casting news for DARDEVIL Season 3. Earlier today, it was confirmed that HART OF DIXIE alum Wilson Bethel will join the third season of The Man Without Fear's solo series.

While we don't know exactly who Bethel will portray, we have learned that his character will be an FBI agent who will play a critical role in the ongoing conflict between Matt Murdock (Charlie Cox) and Wilson Fisk (Vincent D'Onofrio), otherwise known as Daredevil and The Kingpin respectively. Most famous for his role as Wade Kinsella on the TV show HART OF DIXIE, Bethel has also appeared on programs like THE ASTRONAUT WIVES CLUB, HOW TO GET AWAY WITH MURDER and GENERATION KILL among others.

Some time ago, information about an FBI agent appearing in DAREDEVIL Season 3 was leaked, with the specifics leading fans to speculate that the character being referenced is Sin-Eater, a former agent of S.H.I.E.L.D. turned NYPD officer named Stanley Carter. Carter, after being driven to lunacy by an experimental drug, vowed to punish those whom he viewed as sinful, even going so far as to punish those who've sworn to uphold the law. During his time on the comic book page, Sin-Eater has appeared mostly as an antagonist for both Daredevil or Spider-Man.

Hmm, this character description sounds an awful lot like Nuke, a.k.a. Frank Simpson from JESSICA JONES. Could it be that we'll soon witness the antics of another drug-addled agent in DAREDEVIL? If that's the case, I sure hope that Bethel's character brings some new and interesting elements to the already familiar ground. It would be a shame if this were simply a re-tread of Simpson's "well meaning guy who goes too far" arc. I shall keep the faith until proven otherwise, as I've enjoyed much of Marvel's series offerings, with DAREDEVIL being one of my personal favorites (the first season anyway).
