Deep seems like a cheap Finding Nemo rip-off, then BOOM, dystopia!

Not going to lie guys, it's been a pretty slow news day today. So while sifting through different stories, I come across a cheap looking animated film from Lionsgate that looked like to cash in on FINDING NEMO almost 15 years too late. Maybe could make for a funny article, I thought. At this point I'm desperate. Then I watch it, and yep, seems like a pretty standard Pixar rip-o...wait, are those ruined skyscrapers underwater? Why is there a flooded subway system? Is this...is this a post-apocalypse movie out of nowhere?

To my surprise, yes, yes it is. So now it's also a WALL-E rip-off as well. Here's the official synopsis:

In 2100, when humanity has abandoned the earth, a colony of extravagant creatures still thrives in the deepest abyss of the ocean. Deep, an adventurous "dumbo" octopus and the last one of his kind lives there with his two unconditional friends: Evo, a nerdy and clumsy angler fish, and Alice, a neurotic deep-sea shrimp. When an accident destroys their home, the guardian of the abyss, The Kraken, will send Deep and his friends on a perilous journey to find a new home. In their mission, they will be joined by Maura -a voracious moray eel- and together they will travel to amazing places like the submerged city of New York, the Titanic or the Arctic, facing formidable enemies and hilarious situations. Will they be able to bring the oceans back to their former glory?

Crazy stuff. And here's a trailer if you were at all curious (which by the way, doesn't make the whole "future without humans" thing clear):

Meanwhile DEEP will sink into theaters November 3rd, 2017.

Extra Tidbit: What other two Pixar mash-ups would be good? Maybe see what would happen if you mixed up the worst ones - CARS and THE GOOD DINOSAUR - into a story about dinosaur cars? Hmm....that seems like it's been done already...
