Doing Avengers: Infinity War is maybe the most fun Josh Brolin has ever had

It's been over three years since Josh Brolin was first announced as Thanos, but, after brief appearances in GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY and AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON, Brolin will finally get to strut his stuff as The Mad Titan in the upcoming AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR. Production on INFINITY WAR wrapped up last month, with production on the as-yet-untitled AVENGERS 4 now underway, and it's proven to be quite the massive undertaking with just about every Marvel Cinematic Universe character taking part. Amidst all that chaos however, is an awful lot of fun, and Josh Brolin recently told Entertainment Weekly that playing Thanos in AVENGERS is maybe the most fun he's ever had. And that's coming from someone who's seen Kevin Bacon naked, so, yeah.

I love doing Avengers, it’s maybe the most fun I’ve ever had. I just saw a little snippet of it, and it was amazing. The cutting-edge technology of what they’re doing — what I’ve seen is absolutely mind-blowing. When I saw it on screen, it was me, but also not like me. It’s really strange.

Fans at Disney's D-23 Expo, as well as San Diego Comic-Con, got a peek at a trailer for AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR which showcased some major action from Thanos himself, but according to Brolin, the difference between that footage and the finished product will be night and day. "Not even close." Brolin said. "What they saw is not even close."

As for when us mere mortals will get to view an official trailer, INFINITY WAR co-director Joe Russo explained that the D-23/Comic-Con trailer was made with a specific audience in mind, and that we'll have to be patient while they produce a trailer which will work for a wider audience.

You know, all I can say is that when the footage comes out we want it to be exactly right. So we are taking our time and working on that footage because, as you can imagine, the levels of visual effects in these movies are unprecedented and there are certain things in this footage at Comic-Con that works specifically for a Comic-Con audience. But when we go wide, to a wide audience, we have to make sure that footage works for a wide audience. So we’re hard at work on that right now. I’m not going to give a timeline on it because I want to surprise people but, you know, hopefully, they’re patient with us.

Another person who seems to be having a blast on the set of AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR is Dave Bautista, who discussed the great chemistry between the cast earlier today, and who just yesterday praised Josh Brolin's impressive DEADPOOL 2 physique, saying that Brolin made him feel self-conscious and vowed to hit the gym even harder in preparation for his AVENGERS 4 appearance.

AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR will hit theaters on May 4, 2018, and will be followed by the as-yet-untitled AVENGERS 4 on May 3, 2019.
