War has begun in first War for the Planet of the Apes digital billboard

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

Didn’t expect to see this today, did ya?

The first of what is now being called a "digital billboard" for WAR FOR THE PLANET OF THE APES is here (and acting as an actual billboard at NYCC, as seen below) and the new words of the day are “doom, doom and more doom”. Taking simple yet effective to a whole new level, the teaser shows particles of what look like either snow or ash falling, eventually canvasing an image of a solemn-looking Ceaser as he speaks words of inevitable, impending…wait for it…doom.

But why did you read that? Watch it, and stay tuned as more is said to come tonight from NYCC!

I like to think that was snow falling in the teaser, because clearly Christmas has come early. We got JOHN WICK and PLANET OF THE APES today? What a glorious time to have the internet! Back in the day the only way to see a trailer was to ride a horse onto a ship and wait for the quartermaster to fish the reel out of the sea after it was dropped in there by a Redcoat in a paddle-drawn canoe.  I don’t know how history works. Still, the teaser we got today is ominous and enticing as hell, and I can’t wait for more footage to come.

War will begin on July 14, 2017 with Judy Greer, Andy Serkis and Woody Harrelson.
